Advanced Drama Casting Agreement

Below is the casting agreement all students in Advanced Drama signed prior to auditioning for All I Really Need to Know I Learned by Being in a Bad Play. This is the standard agreement I use for all productions with slight variations for each.
  1. I agree to attend all rehearsals (barring illness or emergency).
  2. I will not miss any rehearsal unless it is noted on the conflict sheet.
  3. I understand that if I must miss the dress rehearsal on January 5, 2017, it could result in my not being able to perform with the class on January 12.
  4. I will notify Mrs. Henaghan by phone/text or email about any absences missed due to an illness or a medical emergency. PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON A FRIEND TO SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH MRS. HENAGHAN. (Mrs. Henaghan must hear from either the student or the parent.)
  5. I will attend rehearsals on time prepared with script, pencil, and appropriate clothing.
  6. I understand that I will be personally responsible for parts of my costume.
  7. I understand that I am part of a team effort, so I must have a positive attitude, even on days when I have a million reasons not to.
  8. I understand Mrs. Henaghan will make final decisions pertaining to my role(s).
  9. I understand that during rehearsals I am to remain quiet until my part begins on stage.
  10. I understand that if I cause problems by disrupting rehearsals that I may lose my role in the play.
  11. I agree to play any role assigned to me without complaint. In doing so, I also agree to wear the costumes, wigs, or a hairstyle of the director’s choosing.
  12. I agree to have all lines memorized and be OFF BOOK by November 3, 2016.
  13. I understand that if I should break this rehearsal commitment in any way, my part may be forfeited.
  14. I agree that all my actions and words will be edifying and useful to others and glorifying to God.

Welcome to KEYS Drama 2016-2017

Welcome to KEYS Drama!

Can you believe classes start in just a few weeks? I’ve had a busy summer, but I’m really excited for this coming year and thrilled to have you in my class.

Before classes start, I want to share some information with you so you can have a good idea of what this year will bring. I’m including performance dates, the supply list, contact information, etc. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call, text, or email.

Important Dates
My hope is that by getting these dates to you early, it will help you to coordinate your activities, as well. There may be additional outreach and performance dates, but the dates below are the most crucial. Please note that all performance and dress or technical rehearsal dates are required for all students.
·         Spring production performance dates are Thursday, May 11, and Friday, May 12 at 7 p.m.
·         All-day technical/dress rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
·         Starting the week of April 11, all students will be required to attend both Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
NOTE: Advanced drama will have an additional small production that will take place before December.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals for the spring production generally begin in January and are held on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. This does not mean your student will have to be at each rehearsal every Tuesday and Thursday. A rehearsal schedule will be developed listing the scenes that will be rehearsed during each class period. Your student will only need to be at the rehearsals for the scenes in which he/she performs.

The rehearsal schedule will also be posted on our KEYS Drama Blog (www.keysdrama.blogspot.com) as well as a Google calendar I have created just for KEYS drama classes (if you do not currently have a gmail account, I recommend you create one. It will make accessing information I share via Google much easier). We generally begin rehearsals for the spring production in January.

Email
Email is my primary means of communicating with students and parents. With that, PLEASE be sure to check your email regularly and PLEASE add keysdrama@gmail.com to your trusted list so emails won’t go in your spam folder.

Costumes
As you can imagine, creating and finding costumes for 43 students (yes, there are 43 drama students this year) is incredibly challenging and time consuming. In the past, I’ve had the help from an amazing KEYS student who created most of the more complicated costumes. She has now graduated! While I have not yet chosen the play for our spring production, I do know costumes will be our biggest task! With that said, it is likely that each student will be responsible for obtaining and/or making at least part if not all of his/her costume. If you happen to sew, please do let me know. If you have a desire to be a costume master or mistress, I would welcome the help! I will also do all that I can to borrow costumes from community theaters and schools.

Supply List
1 one-inch, three-ring binder with lined notebook paper
1 composition book (this will be used in class and kept at KEYS)
2 highlighters in different colors
Pencils… always, ALWAYS, have at least one pencil… more than one is usually better
Did I mention pencils?

Contact Info
Please check the KEYS Directory for my contact info should you not already have it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION for all KEYS Drama Students

TO ALL MY FABRIC/COSTUME HUNTERS -
We have acquired almost ALL the fabric we need for the costumes for The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are now specifically looking for the following things:

* Dark sheets or fabric - dark brown, black, tan (darker shades), and green
* XXL or larger plain shirts (black, brown, dark green, off-white)
* XXL or larger white/off-white dress shirts
* Black or brown belts

NEW OFF-BOOK DEADLINES (all lines memorized)
To make rehearsals move more seamlessly, I have decided that we need to be off book much sooner. This means no scripts on stage after these dates.

* ACT 1 - OFF BOOK BY JANUARY 5, 2016
* ACT 2 - OFF BOOK BY FEBRUARY 2, 2016

READ-THROUGH, CONTINUED
We didn't quite get through the entire reading of the play before break, so I would like to finish the read-through on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8 at 3:30 p.m. It should not take the full 90 minutes, so advanced drama students should be able to leave no later than 4:30 p.m. Please let me know if you are unable to attend.

Naming Your Character for TSTTORH

Here is a website I found that has some additional names you can use to name your character. I don't know how historically accurate they are, but some of the names are pretty cool.
